One-hundred percent of the proceeds from the Breast Cancer 5K CARE Walks go directly to the underserved and uninsured right here in the Miami Valley. We are completely volunteer-driven to get the most out of the money we collect.

Sometimes treasures can be found in trashcans, and that certainly has been the case for Oakwood Schools and CARE Walk.

Students have been collecting the pink lids off of Yoplait yogurt containers for the past three years to raise money for Yoplait's breast cancer fundraiser. Yoplait donates 10 cents for each returned lid to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation (up to $1.5 million each calendar year).
With postage at 39 cents, collecting and mailing them all at one time makes good “cents,” and the great thing about this fundraiser is that it doesn't cost anyone anything.
People simply save their lids instead of throwing them away and turn them in. The students take care of the rest.
And they do add up. We have collected over $1,000 worth of lids over the past five years!
CARE Walk extends this fundraiser to the whole community, not just the schools. If you don't have a student in the Oakwood school district, you can drop your bag(s) of lids off at 219 Orchard Drive. If you don't live in Dayton, you can start your own neighborhood lid collection. It's very easy to get people to join in because it is so simple. You will be surprised how quickly the lids will accumulate!
This is an ongoing fundraiser, so keep saving those lids all year long. It's amazing how it all adds up when we all work together. Every “lid-dle” bit helps, Thank you.
